Naturalization is the process in which non-natives must go through to be a legal U.S citizens. This process is what is causing all of this Illegal immigration in the United States. This is a controversial topic because illegals cost citizens their tax money and is causing the disasters among the borders. Some think we should make this process a bit easier for people to be able to come to this country faster and easier. Others think we should just close all of the borders and keep everyone out. And others might think of other programs to allow people to come to the U.S temporarily to be able to work such as the "work visas." The question is: What can we modify of the current process or what process could be more effective, to stop people from hurting/killing themselves coming here?
Tax payers should care about this issue of course. They could be on both sides of the fence though. Some may think that the naturalization could perhaps reduce taxes in the future if for example we build like a wall of china along the borders. Other may think that we are spending too much money now, on births, deaths, burials, etc.
Conservatives might like the naturalization process now. They believe it does a good job of weeding out the people who do and don't deserve to be here.
Liberals are thinking about what this process is making people do now. People are crossing illegaly costing people lots of money and that immigrants are dying due to this naturalization process. They might not want the process to go completely away but instead modify it and see what can be done to get immigration under control.

I think this is a very good topic to write about. You presented your controversy well and I saw both sides when reading. My only criticism is that you be more specific about why people want to close the border of entirely, what reasonings would people have to shut the border completely.
